KASKADE! June 29th

Katie, Maggie, and Megan had an SAS trip to go to in the morning, so Candice and I woke up and got coffee, a cheese croissant, and a ham croissant which were delicious. I have definitely spent most of my money on food! We then did a little shopping and wandered around. We were going to go to the Barcelona Cathedral, but we had shorts on, so we planned to do it tomorrow. We met up with Katie, Meg, and Maggie at boat and stopped at a coffee place for lunch. Told you all I do is eat. I had mussels, olives and gelato. Megan was delirious because we are all so tired. I literally have never been so tired in my life and tonight is the night we were staying out late! My legs are hurting too because of all the walking we are doing. I definitely need a foot massage! Haha

After lunch we went to parque guell which is a park north of the city that Gaudi designed. He is the same guy that designed la Sagrada Familia and the two apartments we saw. I really loved this place. It was gorgeous. We tried to take jumping pictures but got too embarrassed and stopped. There were also these small, shelf things that looked like eggs, so I hopped in one and pretended to be “born”. Just wait until you see the pictures! I also got really excited because I saw someone planking, but I realized it was someone from SAS. The views were awesome though, and we climbed up pretty high. Also, in the main part of the park, a bunch of guys were selling souvenirs and little trinkets and stuff. When we were walking up to where they were, the cops rolled through, and all of them grabbed their displays and started running. It was like a stampede. Apparently it is illegal to sell that stuff. One guy had the pins he was selling hooked to an umbrella! So, when the cops came, he just closed it up and ran. It was pretty funny. When we were leaving, there was a group of young girls who were dancers, and they did a little performance at the entrance of the park. It was really cute. Definitely not something you would see in the U.S. though considering it was like a street performance.

After that, we came back to the boat for a siesta and got ready to go out. We hopped on a bus to grab dinner back in town. We are all deliriously tired, so we were singing fun Disney songs like Mulan and Aladdin. It is funny how we all can connect on stuff like that. I had octopus in this salsa stuff which was really good, but they still had their octopus look to them, so no one would eat them. I did of course. Also, while we were sitting at dinner, this guy came up and scared Katie. Luckily, he wasn’t trying to steal anything. He was just an old man trying to tell us to watch our belongings. It was really cute. We tried to buy some liquor from the grocery store before walking to the concert, but we didn’t realize they stopped selling it at 11. So, we started walking towards Opium which is this big night club. We had tickets to the Kaskade concert which is a DJ from Chicago. Kinda funny huh?

Anyways, we were about a block away from the place, and we still wanted to have some drinks before we got there because drinks there are outrageously expensive. So, we stopped at this small tapas place and asked the guy behind the bar for a drink. He ended up selling us a whole bottle of vodka and some coke! So, we sat outside and drank a little bit and became best friends (amigos) with this cute old man! He was the best! There was a seriously language barrier but we managed. It was so random that we got liquor from him though. We continued to walk down the beach to Opium after saying goodbye. When we got there, there was a HUGE line, but we found the Canadian guys we met at the bar crawl and jumped in line with them. We only waited about 20 minutes, and we got in. This was around 12:45 am. Opium was AWESOME. It was a huge club and really wasn’t too crowded once we got inside. We went straight for the dance floor and started dancing. The music was all American music, but it was super fun to dance.

Once Kaskade went on, it got so crowded. I was super sweaty and hot from all the dancing, so we kind of got out of the crowd and danced to the side. Around 4 or 4:30 ish, we were getting tired, so we sat down on a couch inside. These two random guys came up to Katie and were trying to say that they knew her, but we definitely had never met them. They started singing happy birthday to her which was super random and weird. So, we were getting ready to leave but we had gotten separated from Candice. We couldn’t find her, so we thought she might have already headed back to the ship with her roommate’s friend. We headed back to the ship, but Candice wasn’t there. So, we had to go back to the club to find her. We eventually did, but we were out until 6 or 6:30 am. It was insane and super fun. I am so glad I didn’t go to Ibiza because Barcelona was so fun.
